Hospital List

For many years it has been the standard of care to have hospitalists provide care for adult patients admitted to the hospital. A hospitalist is a physician who only cares for patients while in the hospital. When those patients are discharged from the hospital they follow up with their primary care physician who then assumes their care.  This has been a very successful model largely because of care continuity while in the hospital and the expertise offered by physicians who only practice inpatient medicine.

This hospitalist trend has now crossed into Pediatrics and last July, Flagstaff Medical Center offered a pediatric hospitalist team to care for all pediatric patients admitted to the hospital. We feel that this will optimize the care provided to children here in Flagstaff.

What this means is that if your child is admitted to the hospital, a pediatrician not affiliated with Mountain View Pediatrics will care for your child while he or she is in the hospital. When your child is discharged from the hospital, we will provide follow up care in the clinic. The hospitalist team is excellent at communicating your child’s status to us upon discharge as well as any continuing needs.

We will continue to see all newborns that select Mountain View Pediatrics while in the hospital.

After the admission, please follow your insurance company requirements to reduce your risk of payment problems.
