Mountain View Pediatrics - Virtual Telehealth Visits

We are here for you both in-person and virtually to provide the care you need!

What is a virtual telehealth visit?

This is a consult/health check or sick visit with our own Mountain View Pediatrics pediatricians via video conferencing. Telehealth care is convenient for you, and your child gets the quality care that you know and trust.

Because of the nature of
Well Visits, which require close physical examination and often include vaccinations, we are not offering Well Visits virtually at this time.

Virtual telehealth visits explained:

We provide visits for acute illnesses and chronic conditions for which we feel it is safe to provide care using virtual technology.

Telehealth visits are scheduled the same as an in-person visit by calling our office. Calls may first be sent to our triage line to determine the best plan of action based on your child’s symptoms.

Check first with your individual insurance to determine if your benefit plan covers virtual telehealth visits. If the visit is not a covered benefit by your insurance, then the visit charge will be passed on to you for payment. All copays and deductibles are collected by telephone on or before the date of service.

After the visit is scheduled, you receive an email with a link to access the appointment. By accessing the link, you are consenting to the use of our telehealth service, and accepting any limitations due to the nature of a virtual visit.

In general, you should be aware of the following:

  • If an emergency occurs during a telehealth encounter, you should call 911 and stay on the telehealth connection until help arrives.
  • You may refuse telemedicine services at any time.
  • Other health visit types are available: including office visits (in the office or parking lot during COVID19).
  • All Telehealth visits are confidential and HIPAA compliant. You will be informed of any other people present and have the right to exclude anyone.
  • The parent (if the patient is under 18 yrs old) has full access to notes from this visit unless otherwise protected by adolescent confidentiality statutes.
  • If your telehealth visit requires a more thorough exam we may ask to schedule an appointment in our office or curbside clinic.

We currently offer telehealth visits via both Zoom and Doxy.me platforms. Both platforms are free to use.

Zoom
 - if using a tablet or phone, please download the free Zoom app. If using a computer no app is required.

Doxy.me
– this platform requires Chrome, Firefox, or Safari version 11 or later as your internet browser.
* Please connect at least ten minutes prior to the visit time.

Optimal visit environment:

Make sure your child can interact with the camera if we ask him/her to come close and show us something specific (this may determine whether you use your phone or your computer).

Please have quiet space with good lighting and a strong internet connection, and have a flashlight (or smartphone light) available.

Have your younger child (still in diapers) stripped down so we can do a visual exam of their breathing and skin.

If you are able: please check your child's temperature and weight. We may also want their height.

Know your child's medications and have your pharmacy preference available.

If the visit is for a rash or skin condition, you can use your smartphone to upload a picture into the chat feature once you enter the virtual visit.

Call us with any questions, and we look forward to connecting with you!
